2025 The Gaming Story so far!

I’m a little late to the party with an update of games played in 2025 so it hought i’d write a 1st quarter update rather than doing 3 seperate monthly updates

I didn’t realise how many games of Azul i had played this year so far but i’m a big fan of the game and a lot of them are on Board Games Arena. It does work really wel on BGA.

Splendor is less of a surprise as I joined a Borad Games Arena tournament which was run in the swiss style and started 10 differnet simultaneous games. I really like splendor but didn’t enjoy playing that many games all at once.

None of the otehr games in the top 9 are a surporise, they’re all games I really enjoy playing. Flip 7 is new to me and i was really pleased to be able to buy a copy finally.

Flip 7 is my favourite new to me game sofar this year but there are some other great games on the list, Bonsai, Arboretum and River Valley Glassworks are notable highlights.

This year so far has included several new to me games, some of which i’ve ticked off the shelf of shame list. It’s not quite the 20 on the graphic because that just includes newly reported games and i’ve only just this yar started properly logging plays.

I do play a lot on Board Games Arena as it’s easy to get games going but it’s been really good to also have a regular games group again too.

Sheffield Day of Games

This month we’re also organising a bigger group gaming day in Sheffield on 26th April at Patriot Games. we have a couple of big tables booked all day from 12pm so if you’re free and in the area please feel free to stop by and play a few games with us.

I’ll be bringing a bag of games and they have a bit of a demo library but feel free to bring something along you’re wanted to play or a favourite game. There is a facebook event for Sheffield Day Of Games

Dungeons and Dragons

Dungeons and dragons is back in full swing now with a 6th adventurer joining the party. There maybe a few more joining soon too so i’m likely to have a very large virtual table. I do tend to have larger campaigns but as long as everyone is aving a good time then it’s all good with me.

Our hardy adventurers rescued SIldar from the Cragmaw hideout along with our newest player Pearlwitch and another NPC and made their way to town. at the end of the last session they were in the middle of an encounter with the Redbrand ruffians for the first time.

Tariffs

There’s been a lot of talk about how the newly imposed Tariffs will acceft theTable Top Games industry. It’s certainly going to have an impact with many if not most US board game manufacturers producing their games in China. Stonemeier Games wrote about the challenges they face and how it’s just not feasible to produce the games in the US. Steve Jackson games also spooke about the costs heading their way. There are a couple more good articles about this with i’ll list below if anyone would like to read more.

I try to steer clear of politics on here, unless I am playign Diplomacy…. I just can’t see how these new tariffs will help anyone in the long term. I really hope all of the excellent games copanies out there manage to navigate this difficult time ok.
