Aenthara is the world where my Homebrew Fantasy RPG campaigns take place. Primarily D&D but most of the information in these pages will just be lore and general information which can be used in any fantasy setting.
The Continents of Aenthara
Golandorin (Northeast) – The Land of Legends
A realm of rolling green hills, towering spires, and hidden dungeons, Golandorin is steeped in myth and mystery. It is said that heroes are born here, and legends are written in its vast, uncharted depths. Kingdoms rise and fall, and adventurers flock to its lands in search of glory, treasure, and forbidden knowledge. Located northeast of Varaenthia, Golandorin’s landscapes range from idyllic farmlands to foreboding ruins that hold the echoes of civilizations long past.
Solmara (Far South) – The Eternal Paradise
A land of golden shores, crystalline waters, and perpetual warmth, Solmara is both a paradise and a dangerous enigma. The continent’s endless summer has existed for as long as history records, leading many to suspect divine intervention—or an ancient curse. Though its coasts attract settlers and adventurers, its inland deserts and sun-drenched ruins remain largely untouched, hiding secrets of the past. Solmara lies far to the south, distant from the conflicts of the world yet tempting with its beauty.
ThanZirith (West) – The Broken Isles
Once part of Varaenthia, ThanZirith is now a shattered landmass of islands and treacherous seas. The great cataclysm that split the land left behind a maze of jagged isles, hidden cities, and ancient ruins buried beneath the waves. Pirates, exiles, and treasure seekers call these scattered remnants home, braving the unpredictable waters to uncover secrets lost since the breaking of the world. ThanZirith lies directly east of Varaenthia, forever reminding the world of the catastrophe that reshaped history.
Varaenthia (Central) – The Warring Heartland & uneasy peace
Varaenthia is a continent marked by grandeur, fracture, and quiet endurance. For thousands of years it lived under the rule of the Varenthian Empire. When the Fall came a hundred and seventy-eight years ago, the empire collapsed into warring heirs and scattered realms. The old capital, Vaelora, was annihilated in a magical cataclysm that left the Ashen Expanse in its place, a scar so wide it can be seen from mountain watchtowers. What remains across the continent is a land carrying the bones of its past, where kingdoms rise beside ruins and folk measure their lives against the echoes of a world that once believed itself unbreakable. Ynythrion (Northwest) – The Skybound Kingdoms
A land of jagged, snow-capped peaks and deep mountain valleys, Ynythrion is home to ancient dwarven forges, skyborne citadels, and airship fleets that dominate the skies. The mountains hold vast reserves of rare metals and arcane crystals, making it a land rich in resources and coveted by many. To the northwest of Varaenthia, Ynythrion’s treacherous terrain and towering peaks make land travel near impossible, with most choosing to navigate by air.
Zythphoria (East) – The Realm of a Thousand Peoples
A melting pot of races and cultures, Zythphoria is a land ruled by a single king who governs over a vast and diverse population. From sprawling trade cities to hidden enclaves, every people and nation have a presence here. Merchant guilds hold power nearly equal to the throne, and intrigue runs deep in every alleyway and palace hall. Located directly west of Varaenthia, Zythphoria acts as a major hub for commerce and diplomacy, drawing travelers from across the world.
Ruun’Thalis (Southwest) – The Veil of Secrets
Perpetually enshrouded in thick mists, Ruun’Thalis is a land of mystery and legend. It is said to hold the gateway to other realms, though few who venture deep into its foggy heart ever return. Swamps, shadowed valleys, and ancient ruins litter the land, whispering tales of vanished civilizations. Located to the southwest of Varaenthia, its treacherous shores and unnatural fog make passage dangerous for even the most seasoned sailors.
