First look at SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence

One of the games I was most looking forward to seeing at UK Games Expo was SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. Sadly, I didn’t get to play a demo but I had a good long chat with one of the stand volunteers who talked me through the game and how it works.

Players launch probes from Earth to explore nearby planets and their moons. The board in SETI rotates to offer constantly changing conditions. Players have to choose between upgrading their equipment, landing on planets, or staying in orbit longer to conduct a longer survey. Plus a myriad of other decisions along the way

SETI features over 200 cards which offer goals or bonuses with each card offering a unique effect. The cards are based on real-life technologies, projects, and discoveries. Finding Alien life is only a matter of time and using your resources well and strategically will be key.

I’ve always been a bit of a space and science geek so as soon as I heard about this game I was intrigued. Having now seen this at UK Games Expo in person it looks great and it feels like a game I will really like playing. I’m sure I will be picking this up shortly after it is released.

When is SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence being released?

SETI is being released at Speil 2024, 3-6th October 2024.
